Julia J. Evans (b. 1999) is a composer based in Chicago, IL, whose works have been performed by ensembles such as Duo Diorama (Chicago, IL), the EAMA Resident String Quartet (Paris, France), and the University of Southern Maine Chamber Singers (Portland, ME).

Current projects include new works for the Sanford High School Chamber Singers (Sanford, ME) and Chicago-based trombonist Ashley Rands, as well as a continuing collaboration with internationally-acclaimed soprano Chelsea Helm (Conspirare, Seraphic Fire, and others).

Julia has a B.A. from Southern Virginia University, where she studied composition with Dr. Andrew Maxfield and conducting with Dr. Kyle Nielsen. Additional composition study includes the Walden School’s Creative Musicians Retreat with Dr. Amy Beth Kirsten; GIA and Walton Music’s inaugural Composer Academy with Susan LaBarr; and a residency at the EAMA Summer Music Institute in Paris, France, with Dr. Phillip Lasser as director and Abbie Betinis as composer-in-residence. She is currently pursuing graduate study with Drs. Osnat Netzer and Christopher Jones at the DePaul University School of Music.
